Although the holidays are a bit over two months away, Mary Kay consultants are already busy adding new fall and holiday products to their inventories.
You'll be able to see many of these products when Chris Hansen does her "show and tell" presentation on Thursday, Sept. 21, at noon as part of our WWN meeting. She'll be featuring our Special Edition body care sets (the first such products in the Mary Kay line in quite some time). With names like "Chase A Rainbow," "Sail to the Moon" and "Paint the Sky," our new shower gels and body lotions have floral, fruity and/or citrus scents. The matching fragrance mists are yummy, too!

What is the Rafinery?
Guest speaker Shan Sparling shares the Ragfinery story with WWN members on July 27.
Ragfinery opened in April 2014 as the second “jobs from waste” business of ReUse Works. The organization diverts unwanted textiles from the waste stream and upcycles them in a training business that provides transitional jobs for low income clients of our partner social service agencies and schools.
Ragfinery collaborates with local artisans and community volunteers to repurpose unwanted garments and textiles into a variety of upcycled goods that showcase the skills and talent of our collective.
We also teach our worker trainees and community members the traditional skills of identifying fabric values, cutting, sewing, weaving, and creatively re-purposing post-consumer textiles into products of value.
Shan brings a wealth of management experience to Ragfinery and has built a great staff team of employees, volunteers and worker trainees. She loves her job because it brings together her creative interests, her business skills, and her concern for the environment. Shan most enjoys the product development process at Ragfinery and serving the variety of customers she meets daily.
Best practices for print and web design
WWN member Sarah Benn of Benn Design will discuss how graphic design best practices for print design also apply to website design at our July 13 meeting. Website designers use the same principles of managing white space, color and type to make a strong emotional first impression and draw attention to the website’s primary message. Sarah will also discuss design challenges unique to web design, including scrolling and designing for mobile devices.
